Fire Cleaning At Snows BMW Portsmouth

Snows BMW Fire

Fire Clean-up The Cause Of The Fire

Fire gutted the BMW showroom and workshops, with extensive fire damage to an isolated area but every extensive smoke damage to the rest of the building. Fire crews were called to the BMW Snow’s premises in the evening and fire tenders were still making safe until 3am the next morning. It took over two fire crews from the surrounding area of Cosham and Southsea to put the fire out. The initial fire had been caused by a single vehicle on fire in the workshop and smoke had spread throughout the huge building .It took three hours to get under control but the firefighters managed to stop it spreading to the nearby Snow’s BMW main showroom where top of the range cars with values totalling many thousands of pounds are on display.

Initial Assessment

CPL (Charles Piton Ltd) are the fire cleanup and restoration specialists in the UK dealing with 1000’s of fire and floods throughout the UK. We were instructed to cleanup and restore the premises to its former look. On approaching these projects, we are usually the second responders on the scene working with the insurance companies and the business effected to start the fire renovation work.

The fire brigade have left the building and have given us the all clear to proceed with the clean-up operation. We will have agreed terms and have leased with the insurance companies by then. On entering the building we fist of all carry out a feasibility study and create a plan of action. We communicate with all parties determining the estimated length of time to achieve the project goals.

Work then starts soon afterwards working from the top down removing and rebuilding and doing whatever was necessary to get the building in a state where it can be decorated again.

The Fire Clean-Up

We use the very latest technology to assess the site and during the clean-up process. Through 1000’s of other fire clean-up jobs over our time our team have this down to a fine art. The particular job that was affecting the BMW plant was the tiles that were either melted from the heat source or the smoke that can cause as much damage over a wider area. The ceiling tiles has melted and the ceiling had been discoloured from the thick black smoke of burning car.

Ceiling tiles, ceiling struts, floors, walls all had to be cleaned using our environmentally friendly processes that were used to produce super clean surfaces. We use different types of machinery according to the extent of the damage and he surface. So for example we have used a gentle eco friendly detergent combined with a piece of equipment that produces super high temperatures of 200 degrees centigrade. The combination of the oscillating head, the detergent and the temperature are used to remove oil, soot and carbon deposits from floors of the garage area. Another process used a vacuum process to inject water at pressure and remove at the same time. So very quickly you can see the area being renovated before your very eyes. But this is not a job for the feint hearted, the mess that comes from the aftermath of a fire is extreme. You not only have all the water that the fire fighters used to put out the fire, but also the debris, smoke and carbon deposits to deal with. Health and Safety is our number one priority and we make sure that we live up to our certification as a Safe Contractor. Breathing apparatus can vary, but initially this is quite substantial to start with then moving to smaller less invasive masks after the risks have been dealt with.

Fully Project Managed

We fully manage a fire clean up from start to finish. Working with our team our priority is to keep your business moving and minimise the impact on your sales operations as little as possible. Time is of the essence and we ensure that due to our skilled project management and experience we can quickly deliver a cleaned building back to you that have been cleaned up and looking as good as new.
