Of course you will want to know if your insurance company will pay for your mould removal and mould remediation costs. We have many years’ experience and insight from dealing directly with insurance companies and will be able to help with your enquiry if you contact us directly on 0800 030 4360.

If you do find mould it can seem easy just to deal with the damage you can see. However, in order to find a lasting solution, you really need to know the cause of the mould growth. Indeed, that is really the only way that we can make sure it doesn’t come back. You can also check out our leak detection and moisture diagnosis service.

Mould growth requires water or moisture, however, there are many possible sources of water or causes of too much moisture inside a property. Condensation, often seen as moisture on walls and windows comes from a lack of airflow in a property. Another source of excess moisture is often a leak from internal or outdoor, pipes. Alternatively, water coming inside from flooding or storms can cause the start of mould growth problems. Then again, you might have damage to your roof, pointing or rendering. Maybe water from a fire incident or items stacked outside and breaching the damp-proof membrane are to blame. Proper mould eradication is essential to ensure the health and safety of your building.

Stages one and two of the mould removal process

First of all, our team will find the cause of the moisture feeding your mould and then repair it.

Stage two of the mould eradication process is a thorough visual inspection for mould and microbial growth. Plasterboard, wood and other plant-based surfaces are the most likely to suffer from mould. We also check in hidden areas where there might be damage, such as basements, attics, voids or wall cavities. Furthermore, we will inspect items like carpet backings, underlay, wallpaper, plaster mouldings as well as behind coving, skirtings and insulation. And in commercial premises, ventilation systems are especially likely to develop microbial growth on filters and insulation. At this stage, we look to identify possible environmental health risks and decide if the premises are fit for use during the mould removal process.

Stage three of the mould removal process

It is vital that we understand fully the nature and cause of any mould or microbes that we identify. As we put together your individual mould removal and mould remediation plan we must take many factors into account.

For instance, we need to know if the water responsible for the problem contains sewage. At the same time, we have to consider how long the water has been present and the temperature of its surroundings. Also important is the amount of moisture in the air and the levels of visible mould and microbial growth, and we cannot forget the human factor. Are there people in the building with symptoms of poor air quality or who are especially vulnerable to poor air quality? Bearing in mind all the information we gather, our professional team will decide the best way to eradicate mould from your property.

Stage four of the mould removal process

After conducting our mould surveys, we’ll begin the mould removal process. Our technicians will always wear full PPE including masks and gloves to protect them from the mould and microbial growth. Additionally, we’ll seal off the area completely to eliminate the spread of mould spores into other areas of the property.

We use High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) air scrubbers to catch and remove airbourne mould spores. Next, we treat all relevant areas by applying a professional anti-microbial cleanser to kill the mould before cleaning down all surfaces and contents. Where it is not possible to clean an area effectively we will remove and dispose of the materials or equipment.

To complete this stage, we seal any porous materials, such as plasterboard, with specialist mould remediation products. Finally, we kill off any remaining airborne spores to prevent new mould growth before we replace any stripped or stained surfaces.

Stage five of the mould removal process

Once we have met the COSHH regulation standards for clean air inside a property it is safe to move on to professional drying. The specialist drying equipment we use is state of the art. For you this means that we will choose and use the best possible method to dry your property. That, in turn, includes the hard to reach voids where mould growth could otherwise return.

Stage six of the mould removal process

Obviously, when we have finished the mould growth and mould remediation works it is often the case that there is still work to do. It is possible your insurance policy will cover this additional work. And once again CPL t/a Rainbow Restoration is able to help you.

We have outstanding experience in dealing with insurance companies. In addition, while most standard builders are not mould growth and mould removal specialists, we are. We do have the know-how and equipment to bring your property back to its pre-damage condition. Our people are fully trained to use the best techniques and the right products to reinstate your property to the highest standard.
